Dr Katrine Del Villar

Dr Katrine Del Villar is a member of the Australian Centre for Health Law Research and a Lecturer in law at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She researches legal issues in end of life decision making, including voluntary assisted dying, and mental health law.

She is an investigator on the Commonwealth government-funded End-of-Life Law for Clinicians project (ELLC), which is currently conducting a pilot study embedding comprehensive end-of-life legal training in general practices and residential aged care facilities. She was also a member of the QUT team involved in writing the mandatory training for practitioners participating in voluntary assisted dying in Western Australia and Queensland.

Prior to joining QUT, Katrine worked as an associate to Justice Gaudron of the High Court, as a solicitor in private practice for a national firm, and as a research officer for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Library.
